Renier Completes Addition and Space Renovation for Atrium in Compressed Timeframe
Project incorporates energy-saving elements
Renier Construction turned over the keys today for the 105,000-square foot warehouse addition and 25,000-square foot converted production space to Atrium co-founder David Hirsh. The facilities are located in the Johnstown Industrial Park at 188 Commerce Boulevard in Johnstown Ohio.
Renier used the design-build approach to shorten an already tight project timeline that began with the first project meeting in March 2009. Atrium had a scheduled project completion date of October 1, 2009 but was turned over to Atrium one week early.
“Even with the large amount of earthwork necessary to level the site, we were pleased to be able to provide temporary occupancy early for one third of the new space to assist Atrium in preparing for the busy retail season,” stated Mike MacKay, Renier project executive. The $3 million project was completed on September 25, 2009.
Motion-sensors and energy-efficient lighting choices in the building addition as well as retrofits in the original building are expected to result in a savings of 30% energy usage – amounting to about $20,000 to $30,000 per year.
Renier also has another design-build project in process for Thirty-One gifts in the same industrial Park. The project is scheduled for completion in late December 2009.
