Safety is always our priority – even before the pandemic. We pride ourselves on putting safety at the forefront of each and every project. Because we are a company built on integrity, the safety of all employees and our clients is our highest priority. Our company’s safety efforts are led by Kevin Kenney, Renier’s on-staff safety officer. Kevin has 40 years of experience, with both a Bachelor and Master's Degree in Safety Engineering from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) which is the first University in the country to develop a Safety Engineering Program and has worked both for and with OSHA for over 40 years.
Kevin spends the majority of his time on job sites ensuring that all of our employees, subcontractors, project managers and on-site superintendents are aware of and abide by Renier’s safety guidelines. We tip our hard hats to Kevin, who has – with the team – ensured 40 years of perfect compliance and over 10 years of accident free job sites. That’s no small feat and almost unheard of in this industry.
Business as Usual for Renier’s Safety Officer, Kevin Kenny
Coronavirus has had an unprecedented impact on our community, our economy and our industry. Staying safe while things return to “normal” will require diligence and consistency. Kevin Kenny, our on-staff Safety Officer, is using this time to enhance the way our team operates.
Kevin has always ensured the safety of our team and our clients and that is true now, more than ever. He has gone above and beyond recommendations and regulations to ensure the health and safety of others. We wanted to share with you what we’re doing in the field to protect our team and yours. Renier, always operating with the utmost Integrity in our space, and yours.
It is important to note that Renier has a full, 16-page document that highlights the steps that they are taking as an organization to prevent and reduce the risk of exposure. We’ve pulled out some highlights to share ways we are all working in the new “normal”:
- Good hygiene and infection control practices that include frequent, thorough handwashing and disinfection of work and meeting spaces
- Masks, sanitizer and thermometers are available at the entrance of both our headquarters office and in the field
- Encouraged use of sick time when any member of the team is feeling unwell. If a member of the team reports symptoms, they are not permitted to report to work until they have seen a medical professional
- Social distancing measures for both field and office staff including Renier provided gloves and masks
- In an effort to support contact tracing, Renier is taking down names, numbers and attendees of all meetings
- Renier is following Federal and State specific requirements including mandated signage postings
Capital Kia Dealership – Groundbreaking Celebration
Renier Construction and Great Lakes Auto Group celebrated breaking ground for the Group’s newest dealership, Capital Kia. The ceremony took place on June 1st and attendees included the staff and friends of the new Kia Dealership on Morse Road.
This will be the seventh dealership for Capital Kia owner and founder of Great Lakes Auto Group, Joey Huang. Huang owns six additional Ohio-based dealerships which are made up of Hyundai, Honda, Chevrolet, Buick GMC, and Chrysler, Dodge Jeep and Ram brands.
Guests were welcomed - at a socially responsible distance - before Neal Bronder and Joey Huang shared a few words.
“I am very happy to be building a beautiful dealership with Renier Construction. This is our first dealership in Columbus and we look forward to growing here in Central Ohio. I’ve had so many great memories in this city, including my time at The Ohio State University for my undergraduate and dental school years,” said Huang.
Located at 3445 Morse Rd., the Kia dealership will include a beautiful 24,078 sq ft showroom that includes a 2nd floor mezzanine. The building that exists at the site today, will be converted into a well-functioning 13,510 sq ft service center.
The facility will share its entrance with the newly completed Germain Lexus Service Center. Due to the increased traffic that Capital Kia will bring to the area, a new traffic signal will be installed. A welcome addition to the residents north of this new intersection servicing Trindel Way.
“Renier Construction is looking forward to the successful completion of the Capital KIA project for the Great Lakes Auto Group as the beginning of a long-term relationship with the Huang Family and many more projects in the future,” said Neal Bronder, President of Renier Construction.
The project is expected to be completed in December of this year. Keep an eye on our social channels for project updates!
Until then, you can view photos from the ceremony here.
Renier Offices Get a Refreshed Look
As some of you may know, we’ve been sharing updates to Renier headquarters on our Instagram page. Our headquarters was built 22 years ago and last year we began the first phase of our two-phase renovation process. This phase of the renovation includes a 5,300 square foot refresh, including our lobby, conference room and offices as well as new LED lighting, ceilings, and updated floor and wall finishes. We started phase two of the renovation in March, right before the Coronavirus outbreak hit. If there is any silver lining in all of this, it is that the renovations will be nearly 100% complete as the world returns to “normal”. We’ll be sure to share photos for the finished space in our next newsletter.
You can watch our progress here.
