In ten short months, Renier completed a 125,120 square foot renovation and alteration for Performance Auto Group. Performance Drive Direct is a pre-owned sales and reconditioning collision center and now calls a former call center on Morse Road, home!
The property was purchased to grow and relocate their pre-owned sales and collision repair business that was part of their Toyota Direct campus. This custom design project has a large, bright showroom to show off 40+ vehicles with a full-service mechanical repair shop and a 20-bay vehicle body repair shop. The finished space includes a 12-bay reconditioning center, 50,847 square foot showroom, inventory, and vehicle reception area, as well as a 41,843 square foot collision center with four downdraft paint booths. The approximately four-acre site also accommodates Performance Drive Direct's 650 vehicle inventory as well as 50-60 spaces for customer parking.
The Renier team, true to form, had a very aggressive schedule to keep. Working through four phases to update a nearly 60-year-old office/data center to be what is now a state-of-the-art automotive center was no small feat. Phase one of this project was to finish the showroom; phase two was tackling the service department; phase three included the auto vehicle estimating corridor, detail area, and inside vehicle inventory; phase four was finishing up the body repair shop and paint shop. Throughout each phase, Renier was able to meet client expectations while meeting building code – especially with “change of use” for the building – required extensive coordination with the City of Columbus. The four phases of occupancy required seamless coordination and communication from tradespeople to project managers to our client. Once again, Renier’s design-build project management process and execution ensured the team met (and exceed) every deadline! In fact, Renier was able to obtain special partial occupancy to allow the client to start business nearly three months ahead of schedule.
