Thirty-One Gifts Corporate Headquarters Earns LEED© Silver Certification
Renier Construction and Architectural Alliance Partner on Johnstown’s First LEED® Building
Renier Construction is proud to announce that Thirty-One Gifts’ corporate headquarters has earned LEED® Silver Certification from the Green Building Certification Institute. The 97,000-square-foot office, warehouse and production facility is the first LEED® Certified building in the Village of Johnstown, Ohio.
Renier Construction served as the design-build contractor for Thirty-One Gifts. Architectural Alliance provided architectural services. The project broke ground in April 2009 and the schedule was fast-tracked to be completed in December, 2009.
Thirty-One Gifts’ building is 30% more energy efficient than the Ohio building code requires. Energy efficiency features include:
- Light harvesting (lights nearest windows will automatically turn off at specific brightness levels)
- LED light fixtures that use less energy and create dramatically less heat, which in turn saves on air conditioning costs
- Water-use reduction with low-flow toilets and high efficiency sink fixtures
- Instant, tank-less water heaters
The Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) is an independent, third-party organization committed to implementing the processes that are used to certify green building performance within the framework of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating Systems™. GBCI offers the marketplace the highest-level validation that LEED building certifications have met specific, rigorous criteria.
