Renier Construction Begins New Indiana Freight Terminal and Maintenance Facility in Lowell

Dayton Freight Lines and Renier Begin 22nd Design-Build Project

Renier Construction will begin the construction of a new $7.5 million terminal in Lowell, Indiana for Dayton Freight Lines. Construction will begin June 15, 2010 with a projected completion date of March 31, 2012.

The new structures – a terminal building with an office, and maintenance building – are located on a 20-acre site at Mississippi Street and East 181st Avenue. The new facility expands Dayton Freight Lines’ capacity to serve current and additional clients.

The 19,000-square-foot terminal building includes 32 dock doors and a 4,400-square-foot office. A separate 28,298-square-foot maintenance building includes the potential for five trailer bays, eight tractor bays and a remote fuel island.

The building features metal wall panels, standing seam roof, high efficiency lighting, motion sensors for lights, and LED lighting in the parking lot.

Renier Construction has partnered with Dayton Freight Lines on more than 20 design-build projects since 1999, completing projects in Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Missouri and Wisconsin.

Tom Cronin, president of Dayton Freight Lines, said, “We are pleased to continue our design-build partnership with Renier Construction on this important expansion project for Dayton Freight Lines. Renier shares our commitment to delivering excellent value for customers and continuous improvement.”
