Renier finished their fourth Wetzel dealership earlier this quarter - just in time as Uncle Rip Van Wetzel woke up from his 21 year nap! This Wetzel Honda location was in need of a complete renovation and update to meet Honda’s brand image program. This project was started in November and continued through the adverse weather conditions of a mid-west winter. In eight short months, Renier turned this 32,002 square feet location in to a top-notch facility.

Renier showcased their creativity and desire to stay at or below budget when working through a how to update the dealership’s existing window mullions. The previous building showcased bronze mullions and Honda’s criteria states they must be silver. Rather than replace each unit, Renier worked to find an alternative solution and saved the client $125,000!

While the renovation was a much-needed face-lift, there were some maintenance and structural items that were a priority as well. These items included exterior ACM panels, new roof and façade. The finished dealership facility is now up to compliance with Honda’s expectations and “wows” potential car buyers.

Byers Pre-Owned SuperCenter

Renier Construction recently completed the brand new standalone Byers Pre-Owned Super Center in Grove City, Ohio.
The new 6,724 sq. ft. dealership offers Byers pre-owned customers exceptional offerings including a bright open showroom with select vehicles inside, a featured exterior patio for vehicle display, modern fresh finishes and a comfortable customer lounge area.  Additionally, an onsite five detail bay Service Center is included in the facility to offer customers the same exceptional attention to their vehicles that they’ve come to expect from the Byers family of dealerships.

The new facility, constructed from a completely “green grass” site took just seven months to finish and was completed on time even through some of the worst rain Ohio has had in its history.

Byers Truck Service Addition

Byers Chevrolet Service has expanded with the help of Renier Construction. The truck service bay was expanded by 2,852 square feet, providing four additional service bays for specialized work on trucks and diesels vehicles. In addition to the facility expansion, Renier provided site improvements which totaled an additional 4,500 square feet. 

The project took just four short months and allows Byers Chevrolet to assist more customers with the additional service area as well as the newly installed state-of-the-art mechanical equipment. 

While the expansion needed to compliment and look original to the existing design, construction of the expansion also needed to take place while maintaining all services in the existing building. The result, a high-quality finished product which performs and looks exactly as the owner expected.

Renier Construction has been named a 2019 Best Places to Work Honoree! This is the third time that Renier has been named one of the best employers in Columbus.

50 award recipients in five categories based upon company size were selected from the results of an employee survey sent by Columbus Business First and Quantum Workplace. The blind survey includes questions that measure employee satisfaction, engagement and positive work environment. The Renier team lives and breathes the company’s core values to always do the right thing, even when no one's watching. Renier Construction was a Platinum Sponsor of Hilltop U.S.A 5k 2019. The race benefited Veterans in the Hilltop area, right here in Columbus. The goal was to provide an opportunity for exercise and community togetherness. For the first time ever, the event sold out raising over $1,600 for Veterans in the Hilltop area. We’re proud to sponsor local events with this type of impact!

Q: What made you join the Renier team?
I really liked the interview I had with our Sr. Vice President Tom Rice. He seemed to be very straight forward and upfront with what he expects, explained the values of this company, Integrity, which was very important to me. 

Q: How did you first learn about Renier? And why did you want to work here?A: I saw an advertisement on a website for this position and applied. Less than a week later I was sitting in the Sr. Vice President’s office having an interview. One of the biggest reasons I accepted the position was learning about how Renier stands for and lives by Integrity. And, that we have had so much repeat business with a group of owners - I knew they truly must live by this Integrity motto to have these clients continuously coming back to Renier for their projects.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your work?
A: I love the group of people I work with. I love how they give people opportunities within the company to move up and they do not just throw them into the fire but give them the tools they need to succeed!  

Q: Which three words would you use to describe the culture at Renier?
A: A Class Act.

Q: What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned while at Renier?
A: To always give the customer the building we promised. There is no greater compliment than to have a customer come back to us for another project because we delivered what we promised to give them.

Q: When you aren’t working, how do you like to spend your time?
A: I am almost always visiting family on the weekends and trying to spend time with our grandchildren.

Q: Tell us one thing about you that most people don’t know.
A: My wife and I support children through Compassion Ministries to try and give children in other countries a better life, better healthcare access and a place to gather and know that they are loved and being prayed for.

We are in the middle of building a warehouse addition for Gilson Company’s Lewis Center Headquarters. The addition comes in at just under 16000 sq. ft. and is planned to wrapped up in November. Here’s your bird’s eye view of the job site.
