Grove City officials delighted with development plans and community investment
Byers Automotive and Renier Construction will commemorate the start of a new state-of-the-art Byers Chevrolet dealership in Grove City during a groundbreaking ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 15, at the new site located at 5887 North Meadows Drive, Grove City, OH 43123, (near London Groveport Road and Interstate 71 with the showroom facing I- 71).
The owner of Byers Chevrolet, Byers Automotive, an established automotive sales and service business, selected the design-build team of Renier Construction and Architectural Alliance to design and construct the new facility. The new Byers Chevrolet facility will replace the Byers Chevrolet dealership currently located at 555 West Broad Street, Columbus, OH.
Representatives from the City of Grove City, Byers Automotive and Byers Chevrolet, Chevrolet, Renier Construction and Architectural Alliance will be on hand to unveil the new project, recognize those who have brought the development to fruition, and break ground for the new building on the site.
Byers Chevrolet is the first franchised auto dealership to be built in Grove City since the 1930’s, and is the first Byers owned dealership in Grove City. Byers Chevrolet will offer new, pre-owned, and certified automobiles at the new location.
“We are very grateful to the city and our construction and design partners,” stated George B. Kauffman, Vice President of Byers Automotive. “With their collaboration, we’ve created a mutually beneficial plan that brings investment and jobs to the community while providing us the modern business platform that we need. We’re excited about this project, and committed to deepening our roots in the Grove City area,” continued Kauffman.
The new construction will be built on a 7-acre green grass site and will have a footprint of over 40,000 square feet. The showroom and sales area will occupy 11,600 square feet. The 16,000 square foot service area will include 20 service bays, two service bays for oil changes and light repair, a two-car new car delivery area, a car wash facility, and a commercial truck sales department. The parts department will occupy 10,000 square feet. The lot surrounding the building will include 270 spaces for inventory and 100 parking spaces for customers and staff.
“Byers Automotive is one of the most respected family-owned businesses in the area, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have been selected to build another project for them,” stated Bill Heifner, President of Renier Construction. “We look forward to celebrating the opening of Byers Chevrolet in December with the great people of Grove City,” continued Heifner.
The dealership is scheduled for completion by year-end, with a formal grand opening event scheduled for the beginning of 2015. Seventy-five employees, many currently at the Broad Street dealership, are expected to transfer to the new Grove City dealership once opened.
“The City of Grove City is truly delighted to welcome Byers Automotive to our community,” said Richard L. “Ike” Stage. “The Byers family is helping Grove City become a one-stop community and we are eager to welcome the 75 Byers’ associates,” continued Stage.
The design incorporates sustainable, energy-efficient, and environmentally sensitive strategies. Water efficiency, as well as energy, material and resource conservation and reuse are featured.
Byers will open a new Byers Collision Center by year-end 2014 on Fifth Avenue in Columbus to replace the body shop facility at the Broad Street location. The property has been acquired and construction is anticipated to begin in early September 2014.
