The Rahal Letterman Lanigan (RLL) Racing Team wanted to bring their Indy and IMSA teams under one roof in a streamlined, cutting-edge headquarters with plenty of room to practice, work, and improve. In 2019, Renier Construction signed on to bring this incredible 128,466-square-foot facility from concept to completion in 2022.

Located near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the RLL building is a brand new state-of-the-art facility that houses its entire operations including leadership, engineering, race shops, marketing, fitness, training, indoor pit lane practice space, automotive R&D, light manufacturing, and truck bays. The advanced technologies implemented into the Race Command room allow engineers from all over the world to remotely view and assist in race day operations in real time. The multiple Jupiter Pana monitors in this room can act as one large wall or be broken up into multiple views of the race car cam, pit area, and other locations. This provides a swiftness in input and assistance for the team which is critical in racing.

“Based on my previous experiences in working with Renier, they were the perfect fit for this project. I had enjoyed working with their design-build team earlier on a Lexus dealership in Dayton, Ohio, and then again with my shop in Hilliard, Ohio. The way that they do business matches the full ownership group’s expectations - selecting them was a non-negotiable for me,” said Bobby Rahal, co-owner of RLL. “It’s also incredibly fulfilling to see this project come to life. Bill Heifner and I have been working to bring this project to life since the 90’s.”

The RLL facility features incredible stand-out installations such as the 142-foot truss in the front entry lobby and two sets of monumental stairs, one with bleacher seating and the other with glass railing, stainless steel cables, and wood cap. The building also features over 10,000 lbs. of glass covering almost 18,000 square feet. Most of that glass is used in the gorgeous feature wall so that visitors, racers, and employees alike can connect to others and the outdoors by allowing a clear, uninterrupted view.

Despite several supply chain issues during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Renier was able to find solutions that assured continued progress on construction and completed the facility through collaborative efforts with both RLL and Renier teams.

Visiting their headquarters is truly an experience, and we are extremely proud to have been a part of the Rahal Letterman Lanigan legacy.
