Renier Completes 2nd Largest Honda Dealership in US

Two-Story Exterior Jewelry Box is Featured

William Heifner, Founder and President of Renier Construction Corporation in Columbus, Ohio announced the grand opening of the newly completed 165,000 square foot, 3 story Richfield Bloomington Honda dealership in Richfield Bloomington, MN.

The new dealership features a two-story mezzanine new car showroom floor with room for featuring 11 models, an elevated exterior ten car "jewelry box" display case which is visible from Interstate 494, a second story temperature controlled pre-owned inventory display, and a third story for roof top parking for up to 140 vehicles. Additionally, there are more than twice as many service bays as the previous dealership.

While the "jewelry box" draws shoppers from the highway, the dealership hopes to draw shoppers who are passing by with sidewalk frontage that created a small town window shopping experience. Richfield Bloomington Honda is the only dealership in the Minneapolis Metro area to have sidewalk frontage and access.

Renier Construction served as the General Contractor for the yearlong project. "The dealership has numerous energy efficiency qualities throughout the location including a waste oil system which feeds the entire hot water system and the heated flooring system" said Heifner. "Additionally, the dealership has energy reducing LED light fixtures both inside and out, and a car wash that recycles and reuses the majority of its own water. The dealership is certainly on the forefront of energy saving measures and technology."

"In order to meet the needs of our growing client base, we built a larger, state-of-the-art, energy-efficient, updated facility," General Manager Tim Carter said. "We look forward to continuing to provide great service to our customers at our new location." The dealership expects to also increase in staff from 97 employees to 180 by the end of 2015.

Indianapolis-based Tom Wood Automotive Group owns the dealership. Founder Tom Wood passed away in 2010 but always wanted to improve the dealership, according to his son. "Honda wanted (a bigger dealership), but it was also my dad's vision," said Jeff Wood, who now owns the company. "He came up here a couple times to try to configure a new building on this site. This is a completion of what my dad wanted to see happen. It's exciting to have this new campus."

The previous year, Renier completed a new Mitsubishi dealership for the Tom Wood Automotive Group. "Along with the new Richfield Bloomington Mitsubishi, consumers now have two great state-of-the-art dealerships to shop in one location," Wood said.
