Largest Truck Terminal Nears Completion in Crest Hill, Illinois
Dayton Freight Lines and Renier Near Completion of Thirty-First Design-Build Project at Crest Hill, Illinois
Renier Construction will complete construction of a new $20 million truck terminal in Crest Hill, Illinois this month. Construction began last summer.
The new structures – a terminal building with an office, and maintenance building are located on a 20-acre site. The new facility represents the largest construction project to date for Dayton Freight and the largest for Renier Construction.
“The sheer size of this project, coupled with the installation of ten acres of concrete made this project more challenging,” noted Bill Plesich, Renier project executive.
“Even in light of the winter weather and a higher volume of precipitation, Renier will complete the project providing Dayton Freight with full access this month,” continued Plesich.
The 92,300 square foot terminal building includes 186 dock doors and a 14,500 square foot office. A separate 39,000 square foot maintenance building includes 4 trailer bays, 6 tractor bays and a truck wash.
Tom Cronin, president of Dayton Freight Lines, said, “Renier has worked for us for the past 15 years, completing multiple projects every year. After the first three or four years, they knew our buildings better than we did.”
The building features a combination of precast concrete and metal wall panels, standing seam roof, and a high efficiency lighting system with motion sensors and LED lighting in the parking lot controlled by a Wi-Fi system.
Renier Construction has partnered with Dayton Freight Lines on thirty-one design-build projects since 1999, completing projects in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin.
